Flood Gates are sometimes called Flood Doors or Flood barriers. The value they add is that their size and strength are dictated be the water depth, which is as deep as 20 feet and the structural design can be pre engineered to support these very large loads.
In these cases some may be swinging flood doors, and others become hinged flood doors. In every case they are special sizes to meet the clients particular requirements.
Flood Gates can be used to protect the most vulnerable components of the building - points below flood levels - doors, windows and driveways.
Gates are lift out or hinged barriers that restrain flood waters from entering a given area.
For large open areas such as a river or lakefront, a floodwall constructed of small - light weight manageable components may be the answer.
